Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

What is ADHD?

ADHD is characterized by patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interfere with functioning or development. Inattention manifests behaviorally in ADHD as wandering off task, lacking persistence, having difficulty sustaining focus and being disorganized. Hyperactivity refers to excessive motor activity, extreme restlessness or excessive fidgeting, tapping or interrupting others excessively. Impulsive behavior may manifest as making important decisions without consideration of long-term consequences.

Treatment Approach

The management of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) often involves a multimodal approach, combining behavioral interventions, medications (Stimulants and non-stimulants), and educational support. The goal of treatment is to improve functioning in various areas of life, including school, work, and relationships.
